Seeking God in the Bible

This article will mostly encompass my notes and thoughts on the first chapter of Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology.

To begin I would first like to point out that the first chapter exclusively focuses on how to study God's word appropriately along side facts about God's word in general.

1. The Authorship of the Bible is both divine (by God) and Human (by mankind)

We have historical proof of the fact that the bible was physically written by many people throughout history, and within scripture we find reference to the fact that Scripture is divine because John describes Jesus as being the word of God.

2.The Bible is Perfect truth due to its divine nature. As a result any contradiction within the bible cannot exist, if any contradiction is spoken of it is the result of human understanding of scripture and the limit of human thought.

3. When studying the bible to find it's position on a certain topic it is important to include all relevant passages, carefully studying and cross analyzing each verse.

4.The bible should also be studied with prayer, we should always be seeking God's understanding of scripture rather than settling for our own.

5. Wisdom is not an increase of knowledge but rather an understanding of how knowledge impacts life.

6. Studying The Bible should be done with humility. It should be an act of worship and your attitude towards scripture should always be "what can I learn" and it should never be "Oh, I already knew that".

7. Be aware that pride and a feeling of superiority is very tempting as you learn more scripture because you begin to see the faults in what others say.

8. We should study as a community which means involving our peers and teachers.

9. Every christian should be trained to effectively study their bible.

Thanks for the continued support, God bless you guys
