Walking the path of righteousness

What does it mean to be righteous? What does it mean to walk in Christ?

These are two very important questions, and they are ones that can often be the most difficult to follow through with.

But there is Hope because through Christ we are no longer lost in the darkness of sin but rather set free by the grace of God, this is a wonderful thing, and I cannot even begin to explain how overwhelmingly wonderful it is.

To begin an answer of the first question let us turn to scripture, specifically James 1:25 "But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do."

Now upon examining this verse, it is seen that Christians are supposed to read the law that gives freedom, this is about the commands of Christ which can be put under two generic titles Love the Lord your God and Love your neighbor as yourself, and follow through with it. Being righteous is about being obedient, it is about being a light in the world and letting the values of Christ be seen through your life.

What does it mean to be obedient though?

Being obedient is putting aside the things that you want to pursue that are in opposition to what the Lord has called you to do, it means having those tough conversations with the people in your life who don't understand your decision to be in Christ. What does it mean to walk in Christ?

This is something I struggled with for a long time, I understood what it meant to be a Christ follower, as much as a kid can anyway, but I never understood what my youth pastor meant by "walking in Christ." Today I aim to explain that phrase a little bit and hopefully give some clarity for those of you who are a bit younger. Walking in Christ is most easily explained as the act of making conscious decisions that Glorify God every day. It means taking the time to think about how Christ would have reacted in your situation. Most of all it means living for the glory of Christ regardless of your circumstances, doing whats right even when its the hardest thing to do. God gives strength to those who call on his name He gives grace to those who ask regardless of their sins.

Walking in Christ is living your life for the Glory of God in every way you can.
